After much work and dedication from the Home Care Association of Florida (HCAF), the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC), wonderful Senators from Florida, other State Home Care Associations and multiple affected agencies, there has been a HUGE BREAKTHROUGH and the PRE-CLAIM Review Demonstration has been DELAYED in the remaining four states (Florida, Texas, Michigan & Massachusetts). While Illinois gets no relief from this, at the moment, the other four states are celebrating and breathing a huge sigh of relief!!
CMS is attributing this delay to additional needed time to educate agencies on the process and using the lessons learned from the Illinois implementation as a foundation for that.
Please understand that this is a DELAY and NOT a CANCELLATION of the demonstration! While we can hope that the next Breaking News is a CANCELLATION, for now we must settle for a DELAY! The notification reads that there will be at least a 30 day warning prior to the inception of the demonstration in the additional states! It goes on to read that Florida will be the next state and a staggered implementation with the other states is still expected!
Thank your State Home Care Association team and the NAHC team for always fighting for you some time this week!!!
Please see the link below for the posted notification from CMS regarding this DELAY!
Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have questions.
