The January 2024 IPR Reports have been published, updating the Home Health Value-Based Purchasing Model scores for agencies, using 2023 data.

The reports, which were published in the first week of February, also provide updates to the July and October reports. The Total Normalized Composite Change Measures in Self-Care and Mobility in the previous reports were not for the appropriate time frames. The discrepancies in reporting have been fixed in the January 2024 report.

In the latest IPR report for January, the scores have continued to move. In the October report, for an agency to be in at least the 25th percentile, a score of approximately 16 in the Total Performance Score was required. In the new report, that score has now risen to over 18. The numbers reflect continuous improvement for everyone, not just specific agencies.

To avoid decreases in payment in the reimbursement applicable year of 2025, scores must exceed the 51st percentile. Monitor these IPR reports and pay close attention to items that score below the 25th percentile, or between the 25th and 49th percentile. These are areas that will require improvement. Now that the 2023 scores are finalized, it’s important to focus on improving your scores in 2024 to prevent any deficits that may have occurred in the previous year’s data.

Changes are coming to the value-based purchasing model in 2025. It is vital that you prioritize GG education on the OASIS regarding the upcoming changes. HPS recently presented “How Well Do You Know Your GG’s?”, a free webinar offering GG education.
