Today, we’ll be addressing updates to the Hospice Quality Reporting Program.

A newly released 5-part video series is now available to support training on the HOPE tool. The first of the five-part series offers an introduction and general overview of HOPE. The remaining four videos each focus on one of the individual sections of the HOPE document, providing detailed guidance on how to accurately complete the items within each section. Additionally, the final version of the HOPE tool has now been released, incorporating all the changes introduced in April. Along with this release, a technical report has been provided, including information to assist vendors in updating their systems to reflect the revised HOPE tool and its modifications.

In June, vendor-specific guidance was released to support the calculation of Outcome Measures for the HOPE tool. This guide outlines the details necessary for calculating the new Hospice Quality Reporting Program measures that will be generated from the HOPE tool.

Preview reports for the Hospice Quality Reporting Program have also been released. Although the preview period closed on June 20th, be on the lookout for a data refresh expected to occur in August. This update will include the most recent information related to star ratings, HIS data, and other key metrics.

In August, the Hospice Quality Reporting Program is expected to release the compliance results for the previous calendar year. To meet compliance with the Hospice Quality Reporting Program, providers must have submitted at least 90% of their HIS data within 30 days of the completion date and participated in the CAHPS Hospice Survey. Providers who are found to be compliant with both requirements typically will not receive any notification. However, those who are not in compliance will receive a letter indicating a 4% reduction in reimbursement rates for the upcoming fiscal year.
