The October 2024 Interim Performance Reports provide data for the previous 12 months, ending in June 2024 for OASIS data and March 2024 for HHCAHPS and claims data. It is crucial to regularly monitor your reports and address any significant discrepancies between your expected scores and those shown in the interim reports. For these current reports, the deadline to request a recalculation is December 6. Be sure to review the details carefully to decide if a recalculation request is necessary.
Keep in mind that there is roughly one month remaining in this year, giving you time to make improvements to your 2024 scores. Additionally, any new Starts of Care or Resumptions of Care completed during these final weeks of the year will be impacted by the timing of the patient’s discharge. If the patient is discharged in 2025, the outcome measures calculated from their discharge OASIS will align with the 2025 Value-Based Purchasing updates.
The 2025 updates include GG items playing a direct role in the Discharge Function Score. Ideally, your GG education efforts started well in advance, but if not, it’s critical to address this immediately. Starts of Care and Resumptions of Care completed in the final weeks of this year, with discharges occurring on or after January 1, 2025, will be evaluated based on the responses your clinicians document at the end of this year. This makes accurate and thorough completion of these assessments essential.
Finally, the final report for 2023 is expected to be released very soon. This report will include the final calculation of the percentage that will affect your payments in 2025. Once released, this information will also be made publicly available.
In 2025, payments for any claim with a single date of service in that year will be subject to the new rates under the updated Value-Based Purchasing calculations. The positive or negative percentage finalized from your 2023 performance will be applied to those payments, either increasing or decreasing them, based on the claim’s 2025 date of service.
