D. MARK CANNON, CPA

Chief Financial Officer

Mark Cannon is co-founder and Chief Financial Officer of Healthcare Provider Solutions, Inc. (HPS). Melinda Gaboury and Mark Cannon founded the company in April 2001 to provide financial, reimbursement, billing, operational and clinical consulting to the home care and hospice industries.

Mark attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with honors and majored in Accounting. He began his career with a large local accounting firm in Nashville, Tennessee where he began as a staff accountant and eventually obtained the title of Vice President of the Audit Division. Mark successfully completed the CPA exam and obtained the Certified Public Accountant designation in February 1989. He spent thirteen years with the firm and concentrated on corporate audit and tax services for many different industries.

After leaving public accounting, Mark joined a national healthcare consulting firm as their controller and was soon promoted to Chief Financial Officer. His duties included oversight of all internal accounting staff, medical billing staff and financial and reimbursement consultants. In his tenure, he assisted in the formation of two new companies – a home health agency and a private duty company. Mark spent a majority of his time managing the accounting and medical billing staff of a large hospital-based home health, hospice, infusion therapy and durable medical equipment company.

At HPS, Mark performs operational process reviews, provides oversight to the receivable recovery project staff and provides interim revenue cycle management services. Mark has over four years of experience managing revenue cycle departments for multi-state, multi-location home health and hospice agencies that range from a revenue cycle staff of 15 up to 130. All of these clients utilized multiple receivable systems and had challenges due to significant growth in volume.

Mark is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Tennessee Society of CPA’s (TSCPA).
