About the Speaker(s)

Melinda A. Gaboury, with more than 30 years in home care, has over 22 years of executive speaking and educating experience, including extensive day to day interaction with home care and hospice professionals. She routinely conducts Home Care and Hospice Reimbursement Workshops and speaks at state association meetings throughout the country.  Melinda has profound experience in Medicare PDGM training, billing, collections, case-mix calculations, chart reviews and due diligence. UPIC, RA, ADR & TPE appeals with all Medicare MACs have become the forefront of Melinda’s current impact on the industry. She is currently serving as the Chair of the NAHC/HHFMA Advisory Board and Work Group and is currently serving on the Board of Directors for both the Home Care Association of Florida & Tennessee Association for Home Care. Melinda is also the author of the Home Health OASIS Guide to OASIS-E  and Home Health Billing Answers, 2023.

OCHCH Hospice Billing Series

Hospice Billing regulations and updates are key to a successful revenue cycle for your hospice.  This series will take you through the process of defining initial eligibility for the hospice patient, defining the specific regulatory requirements for admitting patients, the process of the Notice of Election, filing final claims and ensuring that you are reimbursed accurately.  In addition this series will review the Hospice Quality Reporting Program (HQRP) basics to be met to avoid penalties and the key data elements that are collected from Hospice claims that assist medical reviewers in determining whether you are a risk to the program.  This series is a must for any that need to remain current on Hospice eligibility and billing requirements.

The 2025 Hospice Rule brought some changes in reimbursement that includes an increase in rates and 2026 is sure to follow with multiple changes.  New and experienced hospice billers periodically need a review of eligibility requirements and recent reimbursement and election clarifications.  This session will examine eligibility verifications, Election Statement and Addendum and Notice of Election requirements under recent regulatory updates. It will walk through the Late Notice of Election and the exceptions process of appeal. A comprehensive review of all eligibility requirements, all aspects of dealing with Election statement changes and all things related to the Notice of Election will be included. 

OCHCH Hospice Billing Series Part 2: Medicare Claims Processing & Avoiding Errors

Recent years have been filled with updates to the Hospice Medicare Billing regulations.  Accurate monthly claims and understanding of the navigation surrounding the edits and errors is key to getting paid correctly and timely.  This webinar will review step-by-step through this process. It will also provide examples of current billing issues and how to troubleshoot those edits.   

OCHCH Hospice Billing Series Part 3: Face-to-Face, Physician Billing & Hospice Cap

Face-to-Face requirements, physician billing, and the aggregate cap self-reporting requirement are a few among many of the daily reimbursement related challenges.  A review of specific physician billing codes and discussion of Attending Physician impact will be conducted.  HOPE transmission requirements and the penalty for noncompliance will be covered.  Lastly, medical review denials and how the PEPPER data may affect your hospice will be reviewed.
